David Eugene
"Butch" Hall, 21, of Uniontown, Kansas, died Wednesday, Feb. 25,
2004, in Kabul, Afghanistan. He was stationed with other soldiers
from the 414th Military Police Company (Joplin, Missouri) and the
805 Military Police Company (North Carolina) at Bagram Air Force
Base in Afghanistan. His current tour of duty began in July.
He was born Aug. 20, 1982, at Fort Scott, to David Layne and
Donna Marie Hunsperger Hall. He attended West Bourbon Elementary and
was a 2000 graduate of Uniontown High School. While in high school,
he was a four-year FFA member. He received the National Fitness
Award twice, the Chapter FFA Degree, high achievement in woods
technology and agriculture mechanics, scholastic achievement in
applied math, sixth place in
Agricultural Mechanics at district FFA and
letters in varsity Eagle football.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Donna and Jim Linn
of Uniontown; his father, David L. Hall of Fort Scott; two brothers,
Jeremy Hall and Casey Hall, both of Uniontown; one sister, Jennifer
Stone of Redfield; his maternal grandmother, Frances Hall of
Redfield; his paternal grandmother, Betty Adams of Fort Scott; his
paternal grandfather, Bob Hall of Uniontown; one niece; and two
nephews.
Specialist Hall, joined the 414th Military Police Company in 2000, prior
to Basic Training. Over the past three years, overseas and
state-side deployments and temporary duty locations have included:
Egypt (2001); Cuba, “Operation
Enduring Freedom” (2002); Ft. Benning, GA “Operation Noble Eagle”
(2002); and Afghanistan, “Operation Enduring Freedom” (2003-04).
Awards earned during his time of service, include:
Meritorious Service Medal (Posthumous), Army
Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M”, Army
Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon.
Those who have served with Specialist Hall remember him as a
young man always ready and willing to lead the way. Even in the
dreariest of conditions, he had the ability to make those around him
smile. His presence has been a valuable asset to his leaders and his peers.
He will be forever in our hearts and minds.
